The annual
Children’s show was held on 21st
August 2011, the morning was taken over by in-hand classes starting in ring one
with the fun showing classes with
prettiest mare. Some beautiful entries coming forward with first place going to
Abigail Parks and her pony Leafycroft Royal Angharad, closely followed by
Morgan Cobden and Gorhambury Fire fly. The next class was most handsome gelding
with club member Courtney Fellows and Harley taking first place with the very
handsome and distinguished Charlie Farlie second. The ring two the day started
very well for Lucy Parks and her pony Cosdon fantasy taking first places in The
best turned out class and Mountain and
moorland class. The best solid was won
by Lauren Faulkner and her new pony
Leafycroft Rolo, With Lace Lovegrove and
the lovely Foxy taking Second place.
Repeating
his win from earlier in the year Charlie
Farlie and Taylor Mansfield were the
outright winners of the best family pony class.
The fancy
dress class brought some very wonderful costumes into the ring, the winner
being the very well balanced Alisha Howard
ridding side saddle bareback dressed as Ariel the mermaid being assisted
by Elouise Needham as king Neptune. Holly Glasspool took second dressed as Rapunzel with hair that
reached to the floor.
Courtney
Fellows and Brynsmith Midas Spirit taking the first place in junior handler
proving that her pony is good in all respects not only jumping but in-hand as
well .Alex Bolesworth must have a special mention as he has never done any
showing before and won the veterans class with his sisters pony Dino, much to
his mum Nickys surprise. The Parks
Family continued their success they had in the morning with William Parks on
Cosdon fantasy Taking second in the best turned out just behind Isobel Rodda
and Peanut .It was very nice to see such a well turned out group of ponies and
riders. Sisters Isabel and Amelia Rodda were in very competitive spirit with
wins for Amelia in the Riding club pony and
Best rider class with her
pony Oliver and Isabel with wins in the
best turned out and second place in
riding club pony riding Peanut. Next it was the turn of the younger riders with
Lucy Parks and Leafycroft Royal Angharad
winning the first ridden class and Verity Leggett on Harvey winning the best lead rein rider. Lucy and Leafycroft
Royal Angharad then came forward and won the
afternoon ridden championship
with brother William taking the reserve place on lucy’s other pony
Cosdon fantasy . The jumping classes in the afternoon started with the
Jelly tots stakes which was won by Verity Leggett lead by her very fit brother
Ivan , who not only ran around the course once but with Verity twice to win the Teddy bear stakes too. The jumping rounds of
the day Came from the speedy Aimee Bolesworth and Courtney Fellows who won the
pairs jumping by nearly 1 min faster
then the next pair Molly Mackendrick and Jasmine Coote. Jasmine was in
determined mood and won the Local jumping with
her pony Tyler, who have made a great improvement over the season as at
the start of the summer steering and brakes seemed to have failed of every occasion.
The club would like to thank all the Judges and Stewards that gave up their time as without them to this show
would not be able to go ahead.

Entries to ADRC’s Working Hunter Show on the 3rd
July were sadly a little thin on the ground when compared to previous
years but it still proved to be another successful event.
The
day started with the mini pony and rider combination. The course
consisted of just seven fences starting with two inviting cross poles
followed by a very narrow style fence with both riders showing great
skill and clearing it with ease. As the course went on the riders and
ponies grew in confidence and by the finish of both the jumping and
ridden sections the riders were beaming from ear to ear. The 1st prize
was awarded to Paisley Greenslade riding Jeff who produced a faultless
round. Second place was awarded to Lucy Parks riding Leafycroft Royal
Angharad who tried very hard and after a stop at the first fence got
into the swing of it. Lucy's family were very proud of them as this was
their first attempt at WHP, having only come off the lead
rein in the spring. Paisley received the best turned out M + M rosette
and highest placed ADRC member rosette and Lucy the plaited best turned
out.
Class
2 saw the novice ponies over 13hh competing. The course was increased
in height and difficulty with the introduction of a gate, beer barrels
and straw bales to jump. Judge Gemma Purser was very pleased with the
very high standard of riding that she saw in this class, and praised
class winner Courtney Fellows and her welsh pony Brynsmith Midas Spirit
saying that they would be just perfect out hunting together all day.
Amelia
Rodda on Oliver and Paisley Greenslade took 2nd and 3rd places, The
other competitors failed to get clear rounds but Gemma insisted that
they all came back to do the ridden section to get more experience as
this was a novice class and they had all tried so hard.
In
Class 3, the open pony section, Gemma asked competitors to tackle the
course with a little more gusto as if they were out hunting. Seven
combinations came forward but only four achieved clear rounds. The
winner was Abbey Davey and her lovely coloured pony Chocolate Sundae,
who was sporting a great new hairdo, plaits, unusual for him.
Abbey and Chocolate Sundae went on to take the working hunter pony championship with Paisley Greenslade and Jeff taking reserve.
After
a short break for lunch it was time for the horse sections starting
with the Novice class. The judge for the afternoon was Janet Shears,
secretary of neighbouring GDRC. ADRC introduced a
new fence this year with the clubs initials emblazoned on it which all
the horses had a good look at before commencing their round. First to go
was Zara Thatcher and Aisie who had a sticky couple of strides towards
the ADRC fence but Zara put her leg on and he flew it with confidence,
just what you want out hunting. Next to go was Toni-Marie Landgridge
riding William Brown who also had a good look at the ADRC fence but
showed no sign of stopping. Rebecca Grantham and Barney Rubble rode the
course well but a couple
of stops at the wall put paid to them getting the higher places.
The placing for the open horse class was reversed from the previous class with Toni-Marie coming first and Zara coming second.
ADRC
would like to thank Jo Mansfield, who kept the competitors informed of
the day’s proceedings and results via the club PA system. ADRC would
also like to thank Fellows Building Services who sponsored the WH show.
After
a long day the committee felt that this show had once again provided
the ideal event for the grass roots riders, giving all who took part an
insight into working hunter classes.
The next main events on the ADRC calendar are the Open Ridden Showing Show on 7th August and Children's show on 21st
August, with other events such as a dog show, gymkhanas clear round
jumping and show jumping and dressage planned too, so check out the
website at www.arundelridingclub.co.uk or the facebook page

Childrens Show 29th August 2010
Well all that could be said about the weather on 29th august for
the children's show was changeable. We had sunny spells, wind and small
showers but this did not deter the young competitors by one bit.
The morning classes started with jelly tots jumping for those on
the lead rein and those just off the lead rein too, The fences where
all very inviting and not a single pole came down. The winning of this
class was Bertie MacKedrick and his speedy Shetland Jolly. Just showing
that is is not how big you are but how hard you try.
In the showing ring Rory Leggett got off to a flying start with his
pony Bobby. Not only winning the pony club/riding club pony he also
went on to be win the pairs jumping with his brother Ivan on his
pony Tatty, and just coming second to Ivan in the local jumping. For all
his hard work Rory received a voucher for one years membership to ADRC
as well as a free treatment kindly donated by Contented creatures.
The classes in the afternoon where all enjoyed by all that took
part, with the prettiest mare going to 4 year old Abigail Parks and
Leafycroft Royal Angharad who have only been together for less than a
month.Abigail also took home the prize for best mane and tail and a
bottle of mane and tail conditioner to keep those lovely locks in order.
The M + M class was won this time by Lauren Faulkner and the lovely
palomino section A Ciliane Goldie.Goldie also won the Best fancy dress
this time with owner Alisha Howard on board, just ahead of Isabelle Clay
on a very large Dry barrons ringer.
Thanks must go to the judges Jenny Straw, Rebecca Grantham, Donna
and Robina Luck for making sure that we all had a good day. Thanks must
also go to all the kind sponsors we had including Spr centre, Margaret
Rogers repairs, NLP animal services, Brent Slade Farriery, Needham
building services, D Faulkner Suspension springs, and of course
renaissance rosettes who again did an outstanding job with the
rosettes.LRG photography also sponsored three classes and took some
fantastic pictures of all to days action, these can be seen at www.lrgphotography.co.uk
The show organisers hope that all that attended had a good day and that we see them on the 12th September for show jumping.

A.D.R.C Ridden show 4th July 2010
ADRC held their ridden showing show on 4th july
2010.
A fantastic days showing was recently held at the club field
in Ford lane. We had lots of support for a variety of classes that kept our
judges Mr Erroll Hueleatt and Mrs Jenny Straw, busy all day.
The ground had a great cover of grass, despite the recent
drought and rode really well.
The morning started with the best turned out class where all
the competitors had put in huge amounts of time and effort, after a really hard
decision first prize went to Sheena ridden by Cazey Pullen, the show cob was
turned out to an imacculate standard.
The mountain and moorland class also drew loads of entries,
resulting in the judging being split between lead reins and non lead reins, the
winner of the lead rein class was Jessica Grice riding magic a welsh section a.
The non lead rein section was won by
Sammy Enticott riding Charlie.
The other hotly contested classes of the day were the riding
club horse and pony club pony classes, these require a small obstacle to be
jumped! After much deliberation the
winner of the pony club pony under 14.2hh was Robyn Armstrong riding legally
Blonde. And the winner of the 14.2 and over was
Hannah Lumbard riding kestrel.
The standard of the show was high and the atmosphere relaxed
and friendly, ADRC events are a great starting point for young horses and
riders alike, and also those who are coming back to competiton after a break!

Working
hunter show 30th may 2010
Adrc held it’s 2nd annual working
hunter show. The popular novice sections attracted lots of entries and the
super weather with rain on the previous day made the going excellent. The idea behind this show is to give those
who may not have entered a working hunter class before a taster of what is
involved. All competitors were encouraged to complete their round, even if
things went slightly wrong! Molly Tupper
kindly judged for us and was a very encouraging and gave help and advice where
needed. Competitors ranged from those with young horses at their first show, to
those who had not competed for many years and were getting back into it.
Special rosettes were given for the best
turned out horses and riders as well.
All fences were friendly and inviting and we had some cracking
combinations tackling them at a real hunting pace, in particular Amy Little and
Lennie!!
This will
be a regular event in our diary early in the season to give those who would
like to give working hunter classes a go in a fun, friendly and relaxed atmosphere

Ridden show
report
The Indian
summer brought out lots of competitors for the ridden show held on 27th
Sept 09.
Classes
were well supported – but where were all the foreign breeds??? Helen and Biena were rather lonely!
The nursery
novice was the most popular class of the day, this class was laid on for novice
horses or riders to come and have a go in the showring without the pressure of
having to canter. The winner was Kath Botting riding the lovely homebred mare Migkel
fandango, only recently broken ,this mare coped very well with all the
excitement. Going on to win the novice class as well as going on to take reserve
champion.
The hunter
class was also very well supported with some super animals forward for
judging. Steph mcinnes on Demi were the
eventual winners with Alice Emmence and Fred in second.
There were
a lot of handsome geldings forward to make the judge’s job really hard!!
It was nice
to see some new faces taking part and lots of young horses out at their first
or second ridden show – this is what our shows are all about – getting people
out and about, building up confidence and improving all the time in a friendly
and relaxed atmosphere!!
Many, many
thanks to all of our judges – Heather linfield and her steward Jackie, Pat
slade, Robyn purvis and Donna luck – all of whom gave up precious spare time to
come and support the club.
We hope to
see you all again next year, the first inhand show will be in may 2010.

Working Hunter Show 24th May 2009 Sunday as promised was bright and sunny and this brought out competitors young and old for there very first working hunter show. The
show consisted of three classes starting at 9.30am with the novice
1'6ft - 1'9ft for combinations who have never been placed in a working
hunter class. The course had a good selection of fences from a small
style to a impossing tyre fence which was new for this event, along
with the usual gate and double thrown in for good measure. The class
had a good number of clear rounds and it was good to see new
combinations having a go.
Class 2 was for ponies under 14.2hh and the fences where 2'0ft
-2'3ft and this showed us all how well the ponies take to these fences,
with only the double causing any poles to fall.
Class 3 was for 14.2hh and over, with fences 2'6ft -2'9ft all of which looked much bigger with the added brush.
The horses all had fun and the riders rode them with great
determination. Just what you need out hunting!!! Thanks must go to
Rosemary Parham and Emma McGuire for their help stewarding for their
judges Jan Botting and Ronnie Booth.
Ronnie comented on how well all the animals looked and said they are a credit to thier owners.
In-hand show 25th
April 2009
The day started on a sunny Sunday
morning, and luckily not the rainy one that had been forecast. For the first
showing event of the new season it was great to see so many people and the
horses or ponies arriving and competing.
Class one was for young stock 1-3 yrs the winner being Rose
Lane and the lovely grey welsh section A Leafycroft Mercury, with Colin
Richardson and Yana taking second. It is good to see the young ones coming out
and behaving so well, and getting the experience of show days.
The second class for Mountain and moorland small breed ponies mainly comprised of welsh and Dartmoor. The winner of this class was
Rose Lane and Leafycroft Mercury, with
Cosdon Fantacy and Pearl Tandy taking second. Closely followed by Young Aimee Bolesworth and Talgoed
Firefly.
Mountain and moorland large breeds was eventually one by Molly Tupper
and the magnificent fell pony Bignor Meadow sweet, just pipping our own
committee member Jeannette Coleman with Brynsmith Moses spirit.
Novice showing ended the morning classes in ring one the first prize
being taken by Rebecca McGuire and Fernoak Mr Darcy, this class is aimed at a
novice combination who have never been placed 1st in any in-hand
show. Rebecca was to make this a very successful day as later on in the afternoon she also won the young
handler class and was placed in the riding club pony .
The veterans was the first class held in ring two, how lovely it was to
so many older horses or ponies if fine condition and showing the young ones
how it is done. This class ranged in size from the forth place 11hh Bluberrry pie to the winner being Linda
Allsop and Hannah nearly topping 16.2hh.
Linda and Hannah also scooped the Hunter type 14.2hh and over. This
Class also ranged in size a little but more in the way of type, with Lin Sayers
and her thoroughbred Lissahane turf taking second prize, a good result for Lin
as he has had over 2yrs without showing or leaving the yard due to loading
issues. Well done!
The hunter type pony class was one by the ever consistent Madelyne
Buckland and her lovely pony Halnaker Kylie. Madelyne and Kylie also took first
prize in the afternoon in the prettiest mare, and where placed 4th
in the young handler and 5th in best condition, and 3rd
in riding club pony. Just pruving that are native ponies can turn their hoof to
any thing.
Riding club horse was a strong class with Tracey Baker and Wonderboy
Perfect grabing the first place rossette
with Charlotte Maher and Beano in second. This result was repeated in the best
condition.
The class for non registered horses or ponies was won by Michelle
Buckman with Cfity of Gold. The afternoon also saw wins for Pauline Sims and
her cob Troy in the cob/cob type, and Colin Richardson with Yana in the driving
type. Not to be out done the coloured class winner was Michelle Davsett and
Pablo’s finishing touch.
The day came to an end with two final
classes being won by Charlotte Maher and Beano in the best Bay or Chestnut, and
the best black white or grey won by Hannah Warnett and Murphy.
