                          A.D.R.C Ridden show 4th July 2010

ADRC held their ridden showing show on 4th july 2010.

A fantastic days showing was recently held at the club field in Ford lane. We had lots of support for a variety of classes that kept our judges Mr Erroll Hueleatt and Mrs Jenny Straw, busy all day.

The ground had a great cover of grass, despite the recent drought and rode really well.

The morning started with the best turned out class where all the competitors had put in huge amounts of time and effort, after a really hard decision first prize went to Sheena ridden by Cazey Pullen, the show cob was turned out to an imacculate standard.

The mountain and moorland class also drew loads of entries, resulting in the judging being split between lead reins and non lead reins, the winner of the lead rein class was Jessica Grice riding magic a welsh section a. The non lead rein section was won by  Sammy Enticott riding Charlie.

The other hotly contested classes of the day were the riding club horse and pony club pony classes, these require a small obstacle to be jumped!  After much deliberation the winner of the pony club pony under 14.2hh was Robyn Armstrong riding legally Blonde. And the winner of the 14.2 and over was  Hannah Lumbard riding kestrel.

The standard of the show was high and the atmosphere relaxed and friendly, ADRC events are a great starting point for young horses and riders alike, and also those who are coming back to competiton after a break!                 Working hunter show 30th may 2010

Adrc  held it’s 2nd annual working hunter show. The popular novice sections attracted lots of entries and the super weather with rain on the previous day made the going excellent.  The idea behind this show is to give those who may not have entered a working hunter class before a taster of what is involved. All competitors were encouraged to complete their round, even if things went slightly wrong!  Molly Tupper kindly judged for us and was a very encouraging and gave help and advice where needed. Competitors ranged from those with young horses at their first show, to those who had not competed for many years and were getting back into it. Special rosettes were given for  the best turned out horses and riders as well.  All fences were friendly and inviting and we had some cracking combinations tackling them at a real hunting pace, in particular Amy Little and Lennie!!

This will be a regular event in our diary early in the season to give those who would like to give working hunter classes a go in a fun, friendly and relaxed atmosphere

Ridden show report

The Indian summer brought out lots of competitors for the ridden show held on 27th Sept 09.

Classes were well supported – but where were all the foreign breeds??? Helen and Biena were rather lonely!

The nursery novice was the most popular class of the day, this class was laid on for novice horses or riders to come and have a go in the showring without the pressure of having to canter. The winner was Kath Botting riding the lovely homebred mare Migkel fandango, only recently broken ,this mare coped very well with all the excitement. Going on to win the novice class as well as going on to take reserve champion.

The hunter class was also very well supported with some super animals forward for judging.  Steph mcinnes on Demi were the eventual winners with Alice Emmence and Fred in second.

There were a lot of handsome geldings forward to make the judge’s job really hard!!

It was nice to see some new faces taking part and lots of young horses out at their first or second ridden show – this is what our shows are all about – getting people out and about, building up confidence and improving all the time in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere!!

Many, many thanks to all of our judges – Heather linfield and her steward Jackie, Pat slade, Robyn purvis and Donna luck – all of whom gave up precious spare time to come and support the club.

We hope to see you all again next year, the first inhand show will be in may 2010.

Working Hunter Show 24th May 2009

Sunday as promised was bright and sunny and this brought out competitors young and old for there very first working hunter show. The show consisted of three classes starting at 9.30am with the novice 1'6ft - 1'9ft for combinations who have never been placed in a working hunter class. The course had a good selection of fences from a small style to a impossing tyre fence which was new for this event, along with the usual gate and double thrown in for good measure. The class had a good number of clear rounds and it was good to see new combinations having a go.
Class 2 was for ponies under 14.2hh and the fences where 2'0ft -2'3ft and this showed us all how well the ponies take to these fences, with only the double causing any poles to fall.
Class 3 was for 14.2hh and over, with fences 2'6ft -2'9ft all of which looked much bigger with the added brush.
The horses all had fun and the riders rode them with great determination. Just what you need out hunting!!! Thanks must go to Rosemary Parham and Emma McGuire for their help  stewarding  for their judges Jan Botting and Ronnie Booth.
Ronnie comented on how well all the animals looked and said they are a credit to thier owners.

           In-hand show 25th April 2009

The day started on a sunny Sunday  morning, and luckily not the rainy one that had been forecast. For the first showing event of the new season it was great to see so many people and the horses or ponies arriving and competing.

Class one was for  young stock 1-3 yrs the winner being Rose Lane and  the lovely grey  welsh section A Leafycroft Mercury, with Colin Richardson and Yana taking second. It is good to see the young ones coming out and behaving so well, and getting the experience of show days.

The second class for Mountain and moorland  small breed ponies  mainly comprised of welsh  and Dartmoor. The winner of this class was Rose  Lane and Leafycroft Mercury, with Cosdon Fantacy and Pearl Tandy taking second. Closely followed  by Young Aimee Bolesworth and Talgoed Firefly.

Mountain and moorland large breeds was eventually one by Molly Tupper and the magnificent fell pony Bignor Meadow sweet, just pipping our own committee member Jeannette Coleman with Brynsmith Moses spirit.

Novice showing ended the morning classes in ring one the first prize being taken by Rebecca McGuire and Fernoak Mr Darcy, this class is aimed at a novice combination who have never been placed 1st in any in-hand show. Rebecca was to make this a very successful day as later  on in the afternoon she also won the young handler class and was placed in the riding club pony .

The veterans was the first class held in ring two, how lovely it was to so  many older horses or ponies  if fine condition and showing the young ones how it is done. This class ranged in size from the forth place 11hh  Bluberrry pie to the winner being Linda Allsop and Hannah nearly topping 16.2hh.

Linda and Hannah also scooped the Hunter type 14.2hh and over. This Class also ranged in size a little but more in the way of type, with Lin Sayers and her thoroughbred Lissahane turf taking second prize, a good result for Lin as he has had over 2yrs without showing or leaving the yard due to loading issues. Well done!

The hunter type pony class was one by the ever consistent Madelyne Buckland and her lovely pony Halnaker Kylie. Madelyne and Kylie also took first prize in the afternoon in the prettiest mare, and where placed 4th in the young handler and 5th in best condition, and 3rd in riding club pony. Just pruving that are native ponies can turn their hoof to any thing.

Riding club horse was a strong class with Tracey Baker and Wonderboy Perfect  grabing the first place rossette with Charlotte Maher and Beano in second. This result was repeated in the best condition.

The class for non registered horses or ponies was won by Michelle Buckman with Cfity of Gold. The afternoon also saw wins for Pauline Sims and her cob Troy in the cob/cob type, and Colin Richardson with Yana in the driving type. Not to be out done the coloured class winner was Michelle Davsett and Pablo’s finishing touch.

The  day came to an end with two final classes being won by Charlotte Maher and Beano in the best Bay or Chestnut, and the best black white or grey won by Hannah Warnett and Murphy.

Thanks must go to Emma McGuire and all the judges for a brilliant  and well organised show. A big thank you also to all the members who helped with stewarding and being runners for Emma with out all of these people giving up their time free of charge this show would not be able to continue
