Well,
the bad weather forecast didn't seem to put off the competitors for
this years eventers challenge. Now in its 3rd year this event is fast
becoming one of the most liked events of the adrc calender. With a good
turn out of over 15 entries in the first class 1'6- 1'9ft, the day was
off to a good start. The course consisted of 16 fences, varying from the
normal show jumps to the introduction of a ditch and bounce fence new
for this year.
The winning time of just 1 minute and 38 seconds went to Paula Williams and
Silver Streak with Emma grainger and Heidi hi in second just 1 second
behind. The round of the day must go to Sinead O' Sullivan and charlie
who's round sadly ended a little short with a fall and a trip to A &
E with a very sore arm, until that point she had ridden a very gallant
round. Sadly just not there day today.
Class 2 saw the adding of two more elements to fence four which
went from a plain ditch to a coffin style fence. The skinny style fence 3
was the one to catch a few out, when steering failed for a few.
The results for class 2 the 2ft -2'3ft were a reverse of class on
with Emma in first and Paula in second. Closely followed by Aimee
Bolesworth and Billy the Kid in third.
The Arundel riding and driving centre instructors had a very good
result in class 3 2'6 - 2'9ft taking home 3 of the top 6 places. First
went to Kate Stillwell on Sue Caustons Standen Melia who put in the
fast time of just 1.48 seconds and was hard to catch but Evie
Everington put in a very hard try, but had to settle for second place
just 1 second behind.Amy Little and Fizz and Laura Oakley and Sally both
sped round and completed the course in under 2 minutes. Fifth and
Sixth went to Natalie Alexander on Sally and Sammy Enticott and her
lovely coloured Rufus.
The club must thank 'Needin Feedin' of Yapton for their kind
sponsorship for this event. The winners of each class went home with a
sash and superb rosettes.
Thanks also to all those who helped replacing any fallen poles on
the day and a very big thanks to Rachael Hutchings and Tony Day who not
only helped on the day but came and helped build the course on Saturday
as well. The club hope that all competitors enjoyed their day as much as
the committee did and wish them all success next week 12th june 2011
at the next show jumping event.

Eventer’s challenge Sunday 13th june 2010
Report
Heavy rain
the previous week had done wonders for the ground making the going pretty much
perfect for Arundel and District riding club’s eventer’s challenge. Now into
it’s third year this is one of the most popular events on the clubs calendar.
Horse and rider have to negotiate a extended jumping course consisting of
showjumping and eventing style fences. The rider frightner was fence number eight, the England football themed
double, not a single horse batted a eyelid, but the half barrels caught some
out!!
In class 1
Ellie Hogan and Bear Necessities just pipped Paula Williams on Silver Streak to
take top spot.
Lisa Davies
and Lia took first place in class 2 with
the roles reversed for class 3!!
The
atmosphere was fantastic with competitors and spectators all offering support
at the ringside and encouraging each other! Everyone was encouraged to finish
their round, and as a result we had a lot of young horses entered, all of which
did their owners proud! We are really looking forward to next year’s event and hope to
see you all again, and don’t forget, the day’s
photo’s are available from LRG Photography!!

Eventers Challenge 14th June 2009
The eventers Challenge was held for the second year running on
Sunday 14th June, and both club chairperson and Event organiser Sacha
Parks were pleased with the turnout which was up by 50% on last year.
Great to see all members and vistors out competing in the credit
crunch. The course consisted of 14 fences in one round against the
clock, 5 seconds were added to the time taken for each pole knocked
down.Runouts where not taken into account as this just added to your
time.
It was good to see in the first class the lovely rhythm in which
both the first and second placed riders compeleted the course, just
showing that speed dosn't have to be out of control.
Abbie Davey made it a good day with a win in class 2 and a second
in class 3. Class three had joint wins with Charlotte Williams and
tresure and Kate Stillwell on Sue Caulston Standen Melia. With only .03
of a second between 2nd and third place. The comittee would like to
thank all who helped out with jumps ,it makes the jobs more fun the more
people who help.
