A
glorious bright and sunny evening was just what was needed to spur on
the competitors for ADRC's first dressage event of the year. ADRC
committee and Judge Jenny Straw were pleased with the turn out and
standard of riding seen.
The first test of the evening was a lead rein
or in-hand test ideal for young horses or novice riders. Lucy Parks was
the class winner leading Cosdon Fantacy which showed that all the
in-hand M+M showing they usually do is great practice for dressage
in-hand too. Lauren Faulkner and Leafycroft Rolo were a close second,
which is a great achievement as they have had him less than a month. The small lead rein riders also had great success with Abigail
Parks third with Leafcroft Royal Angharad and Eden Davey fourth on her new lead rein pony Rosark Samara.
The
next test was walk and trot based, and the Parks family and Koren
Marner's Bally were to take 4 of the 6 places. Aimee Bolesworth was the
winner on Cosdon Fantacy with a score of 154 followed by Koren with 148
and then Jess Hastings on Koren's Bally 139 and Lucy Parks on Leafycroft
Royal Angharad with 136. For most riders this was their first ever
dressage test, and a special well done must go to Alisha Howard on
Goldie who has only started riding off the lead rein this season and was
placed 5th.
Sadly
only 2 entries came forward for the Basic walk trot and canter test but
this did not make a difference to the very high standard of riding
Charlotte Edwards and Missy taking first and Elouise Needham and
Leafycroft Rolo, taking second. Adrc would like to thank the judge Jenny
Straw for her time and kind words of encouragement. Another dressage
event is hoped for the near future. Check the club facebook page and
website www.arundelridingclub.co.uk for more details of events.

Dressage 4th May 2009
It was good to see all members attending and luckily the rain
stayed away. The winner of the first class Charlotte Edwards on
Missy, has shown that it is well worth all the hard work over the
winter months as last season they had trouble even getting around the
arena.
The prelim 18 was a strong class with only 8 marks difference
from 1st to 5th place, the winner Carolyn Basham and Jenni Burgess
3rd showed that the ex racehorses still have a flair for competting
even off the racecourse.
This Event was well organised by Jeanette Coleman and thanks must
also go to Brana Charkham for judging and giving lovely words of
support to the competitors. The next event is Showjumping and a Fun Gymkhana on the 17th May at the clubs field at Ford.

Dressage 15th feb 2009
Our first dressage competition of the year was held at Boxgrove Competition Stables by kind permission of Mrs N.V Brooks.
I'm
sure everyone enjoyed using the fabulous facilities, which are
availible to hire, indoor and outdoor schools plus full set of
showjumps, if interested call Melissa Brooks on 01243 773255 or 07789
001530.
After the snow and ice and not to mention rain, the weather was very kind to us, even with a hint of spring in the air!!
Many
thanks to our judges, Vicky Stock, Liz welch and Shelly Whitbuam, who
kindly gave up precious spare time to come and judge for us!! Also a
big thank you to Emma Mcguire, Amanda Bazley and Ian and Dave, who
between them ensured the day ran smoothly!!
All
classes were very well attended! The walk and trot test and the prelim
were very very popular classes, and it was great to see competitors
have a go at the novice!!
The
walk and trot test was as popular as ever with many good combinations
forward! The winner was Marcella Craven riding her lovely cob
Billy....In fact Marcella was grinning and dancing in the barn when she
found out she had won
as it was her first competiton!! Well done Marcella - will we see you on strictly come dancing in the future??!!
Not far behind her was Charlotte Jones on General Monty.
The
prelim was also hotly contested with the scores being very close
indeed, the winner was Julie Taylor riding Marvin who redeemed himself
from his previous day's escapades, involving sheep and electric
fencing!! Well done Julie!! Steph McInnes did a lovely test to take
second place with only 0.5 of a percent between the two scores!! Only
1% behind was Diana Bailey on Harvry's Pearl and we had three
combinations tying in 4th place!!
The novice was a new class to the club's dressage event and it was wonderful to see people giving it a go!!
Sabrina
Sharpe did a lovely balanced test on Blackwell Marmoset to win what was
the first novice test she had ridden! Valerie Hall was close behind on
her New Forest pony Wellow Ditton to secure second place.
It
was lovely to see a real variety of horses and ponies out. We had some
fabulous cobs and natives and some Thoroughbreds not long out of
racing!!
Many thanks to those who attended and supported the club, and a huge well done to ALL who took part!!!!
We hope to be running our next dressage competition at the end of march on the club field - weather permitting!!!!!
